Sotetsu Lines “Manabi-Club with EXPO” Original Series: “Friends and Habitats Lab—Bird Habitats Edition”—Registration Opens Tomorrow, Friday, September 11!

Ahead of its participation in GREEN×EXPO 2027, SOTETSU PARK will host “Sotetsu Lines Manabi-Club with EXPO,” a pre-event designed to help people connect with nature along the Sotetsu Lines. This event marks the launch of “Friends and Habitats Lab,” an original series of programs created in collaboration with EXPO. Applications for the first program in the series, “Friends and Habitats Lab—Bird Nests Edition,” will open tomorrow, Friday, September 11.
●What is “Friends and Habitats Lab”?
“Friends and Habitats Lab” is a series of programs based on SOTETSU PARK’s concept of “Friends and Habitats,” where participants learn about the lives of living creatures and their connection to nature through ongoing observation and hands-on experiences.
In the “Bird Habitats” edition, participants will observe the lives and habitats of birds from various perspectives over the course of three sessions. Participants will record their experiences from the program and discoveries made through ongoing observation in their original “Friends Research Notebook.” By participating in all three sessions, you’ll advance your own unique research, and we’ve also prepared some fun surprises for you.
Special perks await those who attend all three sessions!
Those who wish to do so can participate in a presentation event held at SOTETSU PARK during GREEN×EXPO 2027 to share their research and discoveries with everyone. Furthermore, presenters will be invited to GREEN×EXPO 2027! We also have wonderful gifts prepared for everyone who attends all three sessions.
*Participation in the presentation session is optional. If there are more applicants than available spots, participants will be selected by lottery.
● “Friends and Habitats Lab—Bird Habitats Edition” Program
【Session 1】 “Let’s Build a Birdhouse”
October 12, 2026 (Mon, Holiday) ① 9:30 AM–12:30 PM ② 1:00 PM–4:00 PM
Learn about common birds, build nest boxes to serve as bird habitats, and install them in the park.
【Session 2】 “Let’s Explore the Secrets of Birds (Tentative)”
December 12, 2026 (Sat) ① 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM ② 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (tentative)
We’ll observe birds in the park during winter while checking on the nest boxes we made ourselves. We also plan to hold study sessions and craft activities to learn more about birds.
【Session 3】 “Discovering Bird Life (tentative)”
Saturday, March 27, 2027 ① 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. ② 1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. (tentative)
We’ll observe birds in the park during spring and explore the changes since winter as well as the birds’ daily lives. We’ll also hold study sessions and craft activities to learn more about birds while reflecting on our observations so far.

Participants will present what they discovered and researched through the three-session program at SOTETSU PARK during GREEN×EXPO 2027.

● Friends & Habitats Lab ~Bird Habitats Edition~ Session 1: “Let’s Build a Birdhouse” Event Overview

What kind of habitat is comfortable for birds?
We’ll build and install nest boxes, then observe the birds’ lives throughout the seasons.
We’ll record our discoveries in the “Friends Research Notebook.” - Date and Time:
October 12, 2026 (Mon, Holiday) Session 1: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM / Session 2: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
*Registration opens 30 minutes before the start of each session. - Location:
Yokohama Children’s Nature Park (Asahi Ward, Yokohama City)
*Please use public transportation to get to the venue. If you come by car, parking fees will apply separately.
*Please refrain from contacting the venue directly regarding this event. - Capacity:
10 groups per session, for a total of 20 groups (up to 2 people per group) *Participation in this event is by lottery. - Eligibility:
Children in elementary school and above, accompanied by a guardian *Minors cannot participate unaccompanied. - Participation Requirements:
All of the following conditions (A–C) must be met.
A. Participation Fee: 1,000 yen per group per session (tax included) *Payment must be made on the day of the event at the venue (cash only)
B. Add the “Manabi-Club” official LINE account for the Sotetsu Lines area as a friend (If you haven’t registered yet, please do so on the day of the event)
C. Complete the survey after the event - Application Information:
We are seeking participants who can attend all programs from Session 1 through Session 3.
However, depending on the number of applicants for the three consecutive sessions, if there are openings remaining, we may accept applications for individual sessions only.
If we open registration for individual sessions, we will announce it on the SOTETSU PARK special website.
<Important Notes>
・If you apply to participate in all three consecutive sessions, you are generally required to attend all programs from Session 1 through Session 3.
・Program content may be changed or canceled due to weather conditions or other circumstances.
・Additional notes specific to each session will be provided prior to the event.
